Adaptations are a range of devices that can be fitted to your car to help make driving or traveling easier. Modifications make our vehicles easier to use and more comfortable. Typically, adaptations fall into three categories: access, stowage, and driving controls. They can help you drive, stow your wheelchair or scooter, or get in and out of the car.
If you’re not sure which adaptations you need, speak to our team. The Motability Scheme offers around 500 vehicle adaptations. Many adaptations on the Motability Scheme are now available at no additional cost, as long as they’re fitted at the start of your lease. There might be an extra cost for larger, more complex adaptations.
You can also add adaptations during your lease, but you’ll need to let us know first and pay any costs directly to the adaptations installer. If you’re not able to afford essential adaptations, the Motability Foundation might be able to help.
W R Davies Motability teams can work with adaptation installers who will provide expert advice to help you choose the right adaptations for your needs.
Once you’ve decided on which adaptation you’d like made to your vehicle our W R Davies Motability Specialist will place an order for your vehicle. You can rest assured that everything will be taken care of for you by our specialist team and your adaptations will be;
Produced and fitted by Motability accredited manufacturers and installers who will contact your dealer to ensure they are fitted before delivery.
Maintained, along with your car, by the W R Davies Motability team to provide worry-free motoring for the length of your contract.
In most cases, your local W R Davies Motability Dealer will be able to order your vehicle and adaptation at the same time, while agreeing with the installer when and where the adaptation is to be fitted.
Motability wants to make it as affordable as possible to access the right solution for your needs. That's why adaptations can be used on your next Motability Scheme car, they are working to make it possible to transfer them to your new vehicle. For most adaptations that can be transferred, Motability is now able to offer a transfer at no extra cost. Where there is a cost, it will be significantly lower than getting a new adaptation. As you would expect, it is their priority to ensure that any adaptation safely meets your needs for the full length of the lease, so there are some restrictions on which adaptations can be transferred.
