The Sikh festival, Vaisakhi, commemorates the formation of Khalsa panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It also marks the celebration of the spring harvest festival for the Sikhs.
The Vaisakhi parade, which started from Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Gurdwara in Oakengates, where people from across the West Midlands came together to socialise, share food and celebrate cultural traditions. It finished at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Hadley. Roads were closed for the parade which featured drummers, ceremonial dancers and traditional music, with walkers also handing out sweets to onlookers.
A central part of the Sikh faith is to make a contribution to the community and The Sikh community donated a food collection to the Telford Food Bank and gave them £480 credit at Green Fields Farm Shop.
